CD Rippers - help needed

After a weekend of trying to fix my PC and reinstalling what software I had copies of, I don't have a decent CD ripper. Windows XP wiped everything but I had backed up most files beforehand (lost all my websites favourites and emails)

I just need a fairly basic one (and a free one) which can rip CDs to WAV and MP3 at variable bit rates. What does everyone use out there? The one I had before I can find anymore.

Tend to use just Windows Media Player 10 meself as I generally rip to mp3. I know ya can change the quality to suit yourself with this. If it messes me around with track listings etc - I'll rip them in Itunes.

iTunes will rip to mp3 for you as well for free. not sure about WAV files, never checked into it.

THE BEST ONE FOR ME IS DBPOWERAMP!!! I USE IT WITH THE ADD OF OGG PLUG-IN (CUZ THANXXX TO DARREN I STILL THINK OGG IS ONE MILLION BETTER THAN MP3) IF YA WANT I CAN SEND IT BY EMAIL (IT'S FREE, EASY AND SMALL)

Forgot to mention that one - I use that to convert alot of stuff from one format to another -especially them annoying OGG files Marky sends me lol j/k. Got to get the powerpack for it though & then most of the converting problems disappear.

dBpowerAMP is pretty good for a basic ripper, and as Ian said, you need to get the power pack add-on to rip into mp3. It's shareware so you get the nag screen after 30 days.

iTunes is great for a full-function media player, but won't deal with evil Microsoft WMA. dBpowerAMP will convert WMA to various formats at various bitrates.
